Our Vision
At its heart, Nurturing Neighborhoods is about renewal—renewal of soil, people, and place. We know that healthy soil is the foundation of healthy plants, and healthy plants nourish healthy people. But in our urban environment, building fertile soil means going beyond buying new supplies. It means looking to our streets, alleys, and neighbors for what’s already there: pallets left behind on curbs, pots languishing in basements, surplus plants ready to be shared, and the organic scraps from kitchens and markets that too often end up in the landfill.
